Classes include Mercedes-Benz, Lincoln, Ferrari and Porsche 911

TACOMA, Wash. (July 24, 2013) — Featured classes and awards have been determined for the 2013 U.S. Bank Kirkland Concours d’Elegance, which will take place Sunday, Sept. 8 at LeMay – America’s Car Museum (ACM) on the Haub Family Field.

The featured class for 2013 is Mercedes-Benz, with a number of the German automaker’s legendary models slated to be on display. Special classes will highlight Ferrari, the Porsche 911, five decades of Lincoln, Woodies, Classic Car Club of America vehicles and a motorcycle class consisting of Pre-War American bikes.

The event’s “Kirkland Concours Award” will be renamed to honor Phil Smart Sr., the former title sponsor of the Kirkland Concours in its early years. Smart, a longtime luxury automotive dealer, volunteer and philanthropist in the state of Washington, passed away earlier this year at 93.

“The Kirkland Concours has become a major car event due to the support of many volunteers and benefactors like Phil Smart Sr., people who donated time, resources and money to make it succeed,” said Scot Keller, chairman of the Kirkland Concours d’Elegance. “He was instrumental in establishing this show’s tradition and naming this trophy after Phil Smart Sr. ensures he will always be remembered for his dedication to this event.”

Since its inception in 2003, the Kirkland show has become a signature event for the region, with a portion of the Concours’ proceeds benefitting Seattle Children’s Hospital.

For the second year, the Haub Family Field at America’s Car Museum will host the event and all the collectable coupes, sedans sports cars and spectators that go along with it. Attendees to the show will also get an opportunity to experience the America’s Car Museum.

The 2013 Kirkland Concours will feature the following classes:

· Mercedes-Benz

· Antiques

· Vintage Motorcycles—Pre-War American

· Ferrari

· Lincoln—5 Decades (1920’s-1960’s; two classes)

· Woodies—Stock Class

· Woodies—Modified Class

· Porsche 911—50th Anniversary Class (two classes)

· Classic Car Club of America Early/Open Class

· Classic Car Club of America Late/Open Class

· Preservation Class

The Concours will also include a Collector’s Class featuring the vehicles of John Goodman and a Special Display Class with a variety of important automobiles.
